Watching How I Met Your Mother on Netflix.

Typing with one hand because a certain dog is laying on my other one.

Reading about both Cory Monteith and the Zimmerman trial. What a depressing 24 hours, right?

Hearing squeaks from a squeak toy. Lots of them.

Writing my post for tomorrow. At least, I'm planning my post for tomorrow in my head. It might be sentimental by accident. I can't tell yet.

Excited to finally be reunited with this little dog! It's been like two weeks.

Wearing an H&M dress, but I'm about to go change clothes.

Drinking a Dr Pepper. 

Wishing that tomorrow wasn't Monday, if I'm being honest. More vacation, plz.

Anticipating the next few days. Lots of things are happening, my friends! 

Feeling a bit tired I suppooooose. I see a nap in my future. We'll see how amenable the dog is to that.

   I also have a few things I'd like to get off my chest about the George Zimmerman trial.. The whole situation sucks. It just sucks. 

   If I'm SUPER honest with myself, I know that the state probably wasn't able to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that George Zimmerman killed Travyon Martin in cold blood. And really, we'll never know exactly what happened. To be clear, I absolutely think he should be in jail. But the rational part of me knows that it's impossible to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt exactly what happened. Know what I mean?

   But all that doesn't change the fact that George Zimmerman placed himself in a situation he didn't have to be in. The original 911 operator TOLD him not to follow Travyon Martin, and he did it anyway. This entire situation could have been avoided if George Zimmerman wasn't trying to be some crazy vigilante hero trying to save his neighborhood from someone who was never a threat in the first place. Despite the verdict, we all know he killed an innocent seventeen year old boy, and he'll always be that. His life is ruined forever, and at least he's not using up taxpayer dollars sitting in jail. 

   I hope that we will use this as a lesson that we need to be teaching our children how to be compassionate and tolerant. I also hope that this will remind everyone that the laws AREN'T applied to everyone equally. Women are still fighting for their reproductive rights, gay men and women are still fighting for their right to marry, and an unarmed black teenager is dead because he wanted some Skittles. We make progress every day, but we still have a very, very long way to go. 

  Also, I saw this gif last night and thought it was pretty freakin' hilarious. (No offense to my Florida friends, obviously.) But who needs a state with such a stupid law? Not me, that's for sure.

Welllllll I skipped last week because I'm a bum. Luckily, Kate didn't disown me, and I'm back at it this week!! I've been with G$ all week, as you've seen if you're my friend on Instagram. This means there's been a lot of lounging, beer drinking, and soccèr watching. Also, we binge watched The Newsroom and OH EM GEE. Does anyone else watch it? Amazing.
My favorite post from the last two weeks was my post about adulthood. It made me feel loads better that I'm not the only one who has a "holy crap" moment about it on a regular basis. One of my favesies, Ginny, posted about five of her favorite blogs, and I happened to be one of them! Seriously, I'm blushing.

In "stupid things that are really hilarious" news, here are nine photoshop memes that never caught on. Personally, I think we should bring back the Voldemort one. But that's just me. Here's Aziz Ansari singing about sandwiches. Do you watch Big Brother? Do you think Aryan is as ridiculous as I do? 

One of my favorite posts that I read this week was Stephanie's called "I Didn't Marry My Best Friend." The whole thing was so spot on for me... Garrett is the most important person in my life, but I still need my girlfriends too. I thought this letter called "Why I Don't Want To Talk About Race" on the Good Men Project was incredibly interesting. Go check it out, and then tell me your thoughts. Since you know I love a good millennial study, CNN asks if we can finally stop dumping on millennials. (Doubtful.) Here's a FABULOUS response to the "just have the baby" sentiment. I couldn't have said it better myself. Finally, someone finally figured out that money really DOES buy happiness. Thanks, science!

Garrett finally nailed down a job interview for next week! I get to see my BFF Jenna on Monday. It's finally supposed to stop raining. I have leftover macaroni and cheese in the fridge. I'm about to break 200 Twitter followers. There's still wine left in the box. 

I think it's definitely going to be a 'box half full' kind of weekend. Hope yours is great, too!

Why I Am Undoubtedly Still a Child

So last week, I told you all about how I know I'm an adult now.

But that's gross. I'm not REALLY an adult. And here's how I know:

I still say "that's what she said." All the time. And I see zero reason to stop ever. And I'm not sorry about it.

I really, really enjoy glitter fingernail polish. And bright blue fingernail polish. The same colors that I liked when I was eight. I don't know what I'd do if I ever had to work in a "professional office environment." It would be the worst.

I still eat the batter when I'm baking. I always try to sneak it, even if I'm home alone. Salmonella? Come at me, bro.

I still call people to kill my spiders for me. Sometime, ask Kyle about how I had him DRIVE to my apartment because I trapped a ginormous spider in my kitchen and was too afraid to squash it myself. Really, it's a good story.

I still eat like a little kid. No lie, one day when I was buying groceries, the cashier asked me if I had kids. I was confused until I looked down at my cart and saw box mac&cheese, Chef Boyardee, frozen pizzas, the whole nine yards. Embarrassing. (BONUS: I still drink a lot of milk, too.)

So really, I guess I can go to sleep tonight knowing that despite my ~maturity~ and all that crap, I'm still just a little kid at heart. I like that better. Don't you?

Engaged or Enraged: a Linkup!

So, when Stevie told me about this linkup that she and Brooklyn had concocted, obviously I knew I had to get in on it.

1. What was the funniest moment you have had while planning your wedding? We haven't really had any crazy hilarious moments, to be honest. We HAVE had a lot of people call us a "charming couple," which is hilarious because we're haters most of the time.

2. What is your favorite thing about your fiance/husband? My favorite thing about Garrett is how much he values his family, and I'm really freakin' excited for us to have our own family soon. It also helps that he does the dishes. 

3. What was the most stressful part of planning a wedding? Wait - by "stressful" you mean "most annoying" right? Because all of the OPINIONS just put me over the edge. Everyone has an opinion. And not even about the bigger stuff. It's the little stuff that I wasn't expecting. Example: one day I got an anonymous message on Tumblr from someone saying that they hoped my wedding dress wasn't strapless because "strapless dresses are slutty." I'm sorry, what? a) based on what? and b) we're slut-shaming brides now? Seriously? Oh okay.

4. What is your favorite personal detail from your wedding? I'm keeping it a secret, but there's one detail that I'm incorporating into my wedding that I'm SO excited about it is ridiculous. 

5. What was your favorite part about planning a wedding? I really like attention, so being the bride is really good for that. Also, there's always something to talk about when you're planning a wedding. If you're with people you don't know that well and the conversation is starting to lull, you can always be like "I just did this wedding related activity" and boom! instant conversation.

6. What would your fiancé/husband say is his favorite thing about you? I'm going to pass the computer over to him so he can answer one. "My favorite thing about Alyssa is the fact that I did not have to change who I was to get her attention. She has accepted me for who I really am and not for who she thinks I should be. Loving me for who I am, with all that it entails, is my favorite thing about my future wife."

I will share this, though. A story affectionately titled "How to nail down a Rehearsal Dinner venue, a timeline:"

   Thursday, 10am: Email location, ask for tour the next day (Friday)

   Thursday, 4:30pm: Receive email response saying “Sorry, been busy. Still want to come by today?"

   Thursday, 4:32pm: Respond to message with “No, as I said already, we would like to come by  tomorrow." Hope she senses your disapproval and frustration through your clipped responses. (Doubtful.)

   Thursday night: No response

   Friday: No response

   Saturday: No response

   Sunday: No response

   Monday: No response

   Tuesday morning: Receive email response saying “Sorry, forgot to email you back. When would you like to come by? Let me know!"

People. They kill me.
